Superfood Smoothies

  • Keep smoothie bags frozen until ready to use. If your smoothie includes a frozen 8-ounce milk/liquid container, move the milk to the refrigerator the night before so it can thaw safely. Refrigerator thawing keeps food at 40°F or below, which is the recommended method for frozen foods.

    1. Place the frozen 8-ounce milk/liquid container in the refrigerator overnight.

    2. Keep the smoothie freezer bag frozen until you are ready to blend.

    3. Add the frozen smoothie ingredients and thawed milk to a blender.

    4. Blend until smooth and creamy.

    5. Add a small splash of additional milk, water, kombucha, or other liquid as needed for your preferred consistency.

    6. Serve immediately.

Do not heat. Do not thaw milk or smoothie ingredients on the countertop; thaw refrigerated ingredients in the refrigerator.

Optional: If the milk is not frozen, keep it refrigerated and add it directly to the blender with the frozen smoothie ingredients.

Note: Smoothie bags may be blended directly from frozen. If ingredients are partly thawed but still cold or contain ice crystals, they may still be safely used or refrozen.
